1. Re: Entry point not found prevents startup of Indesign in CS4
P Spier May 18, 2009 4:56 PM (in response to Buzz81)I recommend you call Adobe tech support (NOT customer service). I think this would be considered an installation issue and should get handled for free.
Hopefully they have seen this before, but be sure you get a case number, and the name of the person to whom you are talking, and don't be shy about asking to escalate to a supervisor.

Buzz81 May 19, 2009 7:44 AM (in response to P Spier)I called tech support and was promptly transferred to Indesign Support. I've now been waiting for an hour for them to answer. Is there any way to speed them up? I'm going to call on my cell and ask for a supervisor.

donr0217 May 23, 2009 12:25 AM (in response to Buzz81)I just tried to launch InDesign and got the identical error messages...both of them. If you managed to resolve the issue, I would greatly appreciate your sharing the solution with me. Thank you very much!

5. Re: Entry point not found prevents startup of Indesign in CS4
Buzz81 May 23, 2009 6:53 AM (in response to donr0217)I had to uninstall and reinstall Indesign. It now works fine. Here is the response I got from Adobe support, which worked:
Most likely, the update did not apply correctly and the InDesign installation has become corrupted. Please remove InDesign from the Creative Suite® 4 by going to Start> Control Panel> Programs and Features. Select the Creative Suite from the menu and click the Uninstall/Change button. Select to only remove InDesign from the Suite and proceed through the uninstaller.
Once it removed reinstall InDesign from your installation disc or download.

donr0217 May 26, 2009 10:52 AM (in response to Buzz81)Thank you very much! I did the uninstall/reinstall of InDesign and I'm up and running. Thanks for making this one of the least painful computer issues I've had to deal with!
Best regards,

Seattlejm Oct 16, 2009 4:32 PM (in response to Buzz81)Had the same error here, but was unable to uninstall or reinstall. eventually copied the widgetbin.dll file from another computer with the same CS 4 version.
Indesign now works but i am still unable to uninstall/reinstall from disk or run updates from online.
DLL provided here if you are unable to reinstall CS4. Just replace the file located in folder C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS4.
I may recommend this as an alternative to reinstallation to save a couple hours.
