am new to flash and just wondering if someone could explain this:
Have imported a character into flash from illustrator and converted it to a movie clip symbol. I want to animated it floating up and down within its own movie clip (independently of the main timeline) so I double click on it and try and add a tweened animation within the movie clips' own timeline. It says i have to convert it to a symbol for tweened animation. But why do i have to do this when i did it at the start? I'll have two symbols of the same thing just to animate a tween within a movie clip. Surely its already a symbol as i did this at the start?
Am a bit confused, could someone explain the reason why it works this way?
You can only tween symbols, so the parts within the movieclip that you created that you want to tween will need to be converted to symbols in order to tween them. Inside the symbol, select the item (or group of) you want to animate as a single entity and choose Modify, Convert to Symbol. Then you can use this symbol in each keyframe of your timeline animation.
ah thats makes more sense! Thanks for that
