Definitely seems to be pretty whacky. I managed to save out the rtf of the member and import it into a new text member in MX 2004 and it still had problems but didn't crash. The odd thing was when I placed it on stage and selected the sprite the rect seemed to be mirrored above the sprite rather than the actual rect of the sprite.
The height of the member was 38403 pixels so it's pretty huge. However when I set the boxType to #scroll I was able to display it properly without crashing.
I can only suggest that you post a bug report and look at breaking down your help file into something more manageable. Maybe a hyperLinked index format?
Actually I take that back. I was testing in a test 11.5 bundle and it was crashing but I think it may have been a dodgy bundle structure. It had the framework folders at the root of the bundle and when I removed these the crash went away. Not able to test in authoring at the moment, sorry.
i fixed the problem by copying the member.text into a new text member..
now i can view the text member again without crashing ..
I appear to having the same problem and it would be a vast amount of work to replace all the text members.
Merely moving the playback head into the troubled area (most of the score) will crash the app.
This is butt-ugly and is my very first experience with D11.5.
Compounding the problem the installer appears to have removed my copy of D11.
Have you updated to the 596 build?
"The following issues are resolved in the update.
1. Memory leak fixes in Text."
thanks. I'm downloading it now.
