Hello all,
I'm about to download a free preview of Captivate 4 and I'm excited to try out some of the new features I've been waiting for (i.e. variables!).
One thing I can't seem to find any info about is drag and drop exercises. Has this function improved from Version 3?
Specifically:
1. Can I drag my own objects to my own drop areas? (i.e. drag the pill graphic to the correct pill bottle)
2. Does this functionality now allow more than one correct object for each drop zone?
i.e. Drag the pill to its correct medication grouping (antidepressants, antibiotics, etc)
3. I create a lot of drag and drop exercises, currently with Authorware, where drop areas correctly accept multiple objects. To avoid a messy pile of objects I set simple actions that a) accept the object that is correct, b) delete the object c) replace the object with an identical object neatly placed in the drop zone. Is this something I can do in Captivate 4?
I'm really looking forward to your answers and suggestions!
Noelle

Hi there
Can you please clarify what you mean by "drag and drop exercises"? To my knowledge there isn't (nor has there been to date) any exercise using drag and drop with any version of Captivate.
Are you possibly thinking about a Matching Question? I believe that with a Matching Question you are able to do a small bit of clicking and dragging to establish a match. But there never has been anything where you might ask the user to perhaps drag a file image to a trash can image or something similar.
Cheers... Rick

In the past I have done drag and drop using Flash downloading sample files and replacing the content with my own.
I don't think Captivate will ever come near Authorwares functionality for this type of thing. Cap is great for rapid e learning modules and sinulation of software for more sophisticated stuff Flash is the way to go. I am planning to learn Flash to do all my stuff. I find Captivate too buggy and restricting after Authorware. Pity they can't sort the bugs out!

Thanks Rick and accringtonstan.
aaccringtonstan,
I'm interested in your workaround using Flash. Do you pop the flash file into captivate? And where did you find sample files? Is it fairly easy for a non flash expert/programmer to swap out the images, etc?
This could be a possibility for me if I could get several different flash files built for me that I could then customize for my needs. I find flash far too difficult to use for e-learning without being a programmer.

I see that the eLearning sweet includes Learning Interactions with Flash CS4. I looked in the common library, and the Learning Interactions include drag and drop quiz bits. These might be something you could use.
