1. Re: PS will not open .cr2 files
John Joslin May 20, 2009 9:47 PM (in response to Spoot51)After the re-install you also need to update the Adobe Camera Raw plug-in to version 4.6.
Get it here: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4036

Spoot51 May 21, 2009 2:46 AM (in response to John Joslin)Thanks, John,
I got the file downloaded but cannot seem to get it to work in PS or Bridge. I see the file buried in a long path under "app data\local, etc." and I did decompress the file, but how do I load it into PS? When I go to help/about/plug-ins/camera raw it still shows ver 4.0, not 4.6, and when I try to open a cr2 file I get the message ''cannot open, not the right kind of document". Sorry to bug you, I actually thought I was semi-pc literate, but can't get this going! Qny further guidance is greatly appreciated.

3. Re: PS will not open .cr2 files
John Joslin May 21, 2009 3:03 AM (in response to Spoot51)The Camera Raw plug-in does not follow the rules of computer literacy.
I should have advised you to read the instructions on the download page.
You have to delete or move out the original plug-in from:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats
And then place the downloaded version 4.6 in there.
It will not overwrite the old one, which has to go!
(To be certain of success, do a search for other instances of the file Camera Raw.8bi and delete them.)
