The demand for Java and .Net developers is still much greater than Flex. When the economy is tough businesses go back to safe (Java) rather than the "hot" technology (Flex). It's a perfect time to be improving your Flex skills though. When things start bouncing back the demand for Flex developers will grow faster than the supply relative to Java/.Net.
(Just my two cents... and my experience as a Java and Flex developer.)
I have not started to learn flex, but i think there is a very high probability this technology will be well accepted globally for interactive net content. some sites doing really good such as babbel.com. i think its promising. lets see what happen next in 3-5 yrs.
Is babbel.com pure Flex?
Check out this baoandassociates.com, whose demos show how to use Flex in many business cases where HTML does not support well.
