Nobody in their right mind uses beta software in a production environment.
it seems the DNG converter installs and works fine, but the camera raw plugin does not.
well, i wouldn't necessarily call it a beta in the sense you normally think of beta. its incredibly stable. i've yet to have an issue besides this installation not working =/
It could be done (win7 RC 32b, build 7100):
If you use beta (build 7000), upgrade.
BTW - ACR 5.4 is beta, Win 7 - RC (not beta).
I do not remember any special steps - it went without a hitch (compat. Vista Sp1, run as Admin).
Other way: unzip; go to folder extensions\AdobeCameraRaw5.0All...\Assets, copy&rename file 1003 as Camera Raw.8bi into proper place:
Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-ins\CS4\File Formats
This two files looks the same.
But no guarantee
I think that is type of unhelpful response is not in the spirit of this forum. Many people try out new software to see if their existing applications are going to work with an upcoming release - I am also testing my major applications with Windows 7 x64 RC (BTW it's not Beta) - and so why not try to help rather than hinder? Better to be proactive and solve the problem now, rather than wait for RTM and you're scrambling to try workarounds.
There's no debating the merits of testing pre-release software in a test environment (if you have one) and suspect that many users on this forum understand this. I was only making the point that once someone has thrown caution into the winds and is using pre-release software to do their work, if we can help them solve an issue we should, and otherwise remain silent ... as I will now.
