Do you want to drag some file
from the desktop into your Flex application?
If so, what's the target in the Flex
Well the target could be anything I guess...
The answer to your question is yes, I would like to drag from desktop or something like that to my flex application... most likely a mx:list box... When, the file is dragged to the List box then I want a feature to upload the file to my server.... or have the mx:list box store all the information until the user clicks upload... this will work to!
Any luck with this one? were you able to implement this functionality in you flex app? I am trying to do something similar to this, want to drag and drop the file onto a flex app. If you were able to do this can you please share some insight.
Wrong thread, dude.
No, I have had no luck.
I don't think the functionality exists in flex yet, maybe soon...
That's right. You cannot drag anything from outside the flash player into it. The security doesn't allow it, so, I doubt that this kind of dragging will be supported in Flex web applications any time soon. However, because AIR is a desktop application, you have access to to the file system and can therefore drag items from it into your application.
Actually, it can be done - my biz partner and I got it workingreliably. It
avoids the flash security mechanism altogether.
It makes me wonder why Adobe just doesn't include some
explicit way to do this within the Flex framework. All this
security stuff can be defeated with a little work.
If you know of security holes than can be exploited by mean people please notify Adobe. As far as we know, erasing one's hard disk or stealing passwords is still not "a little work"

christophsk do you mind if i asked you how you did it? it would be most helpful.
I'm talking strictly about drag from the desktop, drop into Flex. Full stop.
It is proprietary...sorry.
Well, were can see a demo of it working?
At the moment it's embedded in one of our client's products.
When work calms down a bit, we'll put it up. When that
happens, I'll post something
