AE with Animator Pro and C4D

    Bloke Level 1

I am using Zaxwerks Pro Animator with AE.  I am importing objects into AE with ProAnimator. I use Cinema 4D. It won't accept C4D files. So  I  have to export them to .3ds files.  What is the best way to get C4D files imported?

You export your models as .3ds in C4D. No problem. It's called 3d studio when you render.

Ok that's what I did but I thought it could import C4D files?

No, not really. What it imports are the old C4D files up to version 5.21 of the program. Starting with version 6, the file format changed and was no longer documented, so external developers could not use it in their own tools. Not something Zax can influence, but the info on their page may not be 100% clear about this... In any case, you will have to export as 3DS or OBJ from C4D these days, which should only be a minor inconveninece if you have your UV data and materials laid out correctly nad follow the limited naming conventions of the 3DS format.
