Timer setup code might look like this (in an init() function):
// create a timer which fires every minute (60 * 1000 ms)
var timer:Timer = new Timer( 60*1000 );
// add a listener to the timer
timer.addEventListener( TimerEvent.TIMER, refreshTree );
// start the timer
Then your refreshTree() method could hit the service to get the new XML.

I have one doubt . In tree control whenever i click one node ....i am performing some specific task.
If i click a node and at the same time tree is getting refreshed , how to handle it
I am currently working on a Tree control in my application. Is there any way that we can make the label of an item in tree "clickable" that opens the child nodes rather than clicking on the thin arrow on left side of the labels. Hope to have an answer soon.
