I get the opening screen with the workspace and the menu pop up, when I try to make a selection of any of the 3 choices on the pop up I get a needs to close error and it shuts down. This is really irritating as I bought this a couple of months ago and installed it, have not had time to really get into it so just now discovered this problem. Any suggestions other than to never buy an Adobe product again.
I am running Windows XP with 2 gig memory.
First thing to do is to update your Audio and Video drivers... do not go to your computer manufacturers website but to the audio driver website... for example, if your audio is Realtek go to the Realtek driver site: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/
And certainly update to the latest Quicktime too! It plays a very important role in the function of the program.

Also, I recommend keeping your system maintained. Every month you accumulate hundred of gigabytes of temp files and lots of fragmentation.
Finally, if there are other things unique about your installation -- That it's installed on a second hard drive, on computer with less than 20 gigs of free hard drive space, that you're running it on a laptop -- that might be important to let us know too.
