2. Re: grouped paths and 3d rounded bevel
lister110@hotmail.com Jun 1, 2009 4:23 PM (in response to [scott])Problem is when I assign the inner bevel the bevel effects the centre of the graphic. I want the bevel/roundeness to only follow around the whole outside graphic as one path/object. I can expand a copy of the object and colour the face and multiply to get the desired effect, but thought I could acheive this with 2 different colour obects gouped with the bevel effect added..
please see desired effect here
Thanks for your help so far..

3. Re: grouped paths and 3d rounded bevel
[scott] Jun 1, 2009 4:59 PM (in response to lister110@hotmail.com)You will need 1 path to have 1 effect applied to it. Illustrator always sees separate paths and applies the effects to each path.

Wade_Zimmerman Jun 1, 2009 9:27 PM (in response to [scott])You might also consider making a custom profile for the bevel.

Jean-Claude Tremblay Jan 26, 2010 1:14 PM (in response to Hugh Betcha)All the 3D Bevel shapes are located inside the file “Bevels.ai” (for Mac: Adobe Illustrator CS4 > Required > Resources > en_US > Bevels.ai, and for Win: Adobe Illustrator CS4 > Support Files > Required > Resources > en_US > Bevels.ai). Each bevel path is saved as a Symbol inside this document. To add a custom bevel, draw a new path, drag it to the Symbols panel, name it, and resave the file.
