I get a similar error on Mac OSX.  I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling even rebooting (which I haven't had to do on my Mac in ages :-O)...still no worky.

That reminds me of a problem I had with an earlier version of Flash (MX?) when it first came out five or six years ago. The problem was caused by moving from one network to another (in my case, between a wired network at the office and a wireless network at home). If memory serves, Macromedia had to issue a fix for it. Hope this helps to shed light on the problem, wish I could help more.

              Hi There,

Please try the steps below.  If you are still seeing problems, please take a look at KB405970.  Please post back and let everyone know how it goes.

Also, there are some other good bits of information in the Flash Builder Release notes.

              Thanks

              -Larry

If Flash Builder Beta fails to launch successfully after installation, or if you receive a Licensing error message during launch, here's the recommended workaround:
              1. Quit all running applications.
              2. Uninstall Flash Builder Beta.
              3. Making sure that there are still no other applications running, install Flash Builder Beta.
              4. In most cases, steps 1-3 should be enough, but if it still won't launch, a reboot can help as a follow-up.

I've already tried those steps numerous times to no avail.

I'll look into the KB article next I suppose.

Please try out the KB article and check out the FlashBuilder release notes, as Larry mentions. If it works, please specify what fixed the issue, and if it doesn't work, specific information about what you tried will be helpful in diagnosing the problem. Replying back to this thread is the best route and I'll work with you to get your install issues figured out!

For anyone who hasn’t been able to launch Flash Catalyst successfully, try these steps in this exact order:

                    1)      launch Catalyst and verify you get the "license expired" error (this helps make sure we’re all at the same starting point)
                    2)       uninstall Catalyst
                    3)       reboot
                    4)       without opening any other programs, run the license repair tool.
                    a.       There are 3 possible places in the repair tool dialog where you can enter options. Follow these exactly:
                                                                                   i.      When asked about language, press "e" (without the quotes )
ii.      When asked if you want to shut down any programs, press "n"
iii.      when asked if you are ready to run the repair, press "0"

NOTE: the terminal will appear as follows at this step:

** If you are ready to run the repair, then press
                    the "enter/return" key now.

** If you have already run the repair once, but it didn’t work,
then reboot and run the repair again (files may have been locked).

** If you have run the repair after rebooting and it still didn’t
work, then reboot and when you get to this screen, enter 0.

(If the steps above did not work, and licensing continues to fail,
                    then please contact customer support.)

Note: This may take a few moments.

                    5)       Re-install Catalyst and use the serial number posted on the pre-release site
                    6)       Launch Catalyst

At this point you should be set. If not, please let us know.

We are working on resolving the licensing issue for Flash Builder.

For any of you who've experience Licensing errors, please take a look in your temp folder, and see if you can locate the files named "amt.log" and "alm.log". If so, please attach your logs to this forum thread for diagnosis.

                      Thanks,

                          Hello -

So you're sure you're running the repair tool to help with your Flash Catalyst installation, correct? Additionally, you didn't delete anything manually?

As for the error when running the repair tool, one observation is that at the top of that posted screen shot, you have double byte characters in the path. The repair instructions provided were to run it in English. I'm not too familiar with the specifics of the repair tool, but can you try running it in Japanese as well?

                          Thanks,

                          Deepa Subramaniam

                              Hi Christian,

Thanks for posting your logs. Have you already tried following the license repair steps in this Knowledge Base article?

                              http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405970.html#LicensingServiceUpdate

Looking at the specific error shown in your logs, the primary error entries are these two:

                              2009-06-03 09:02:28 [1340] ALM: _info_: Failed to scan trusted storage: 148 : 3

According to the KB article above, running the Adobe License Repair Tool is the recommended solution for error numbers in that particular range. Please give that a try, if you haven't already, and let us know how it goes.

                              Thanks,

I have just installed Flash builder 4 beta and it asks me for  a serial number and tells me that the trial has expired?

I have resintalled several times and I get the same thing.

This machine has never had any Flex versions on it before.

                                                Hi,

I looked up that error code (147) here:

                                                http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405970.html

One thing it suggests, that I don't know if you've tried, is stopping and restarting the service described here:

Solution 2 (Windows only): Set the FLEXnet Licensing Service to Manual and Start the service.
                                                1. Choose Start > Control Panel.
                                                2. Double-click Administrative Tools.
                                                3. Double-click Services.
                                                4. Double-click the FLEXnet Licensing Service to open the Properties dialog box.
