If I understand correctly... the CODEC inside that AVI wrapper is XVID?
If that is the case, it will never edit properly in any flavor of Premiere
You need to convert to DV AVI Type 2 to edit that file in Premiere
Will converting the video reduce the quality? Also, how do I convert it? (What's the easiest way)
Depending on the codec chosen there will be varying amounts of degradation coming from so highly a compressed format.
DV is a good choice because of the minimal compression.
See: FAQ:How do I convert my files?
Wow - Fast reply.
Anyway, thanks, I'll lookat that after I post this. I have 1 more question. My video recorder cn record in the following codecs, the one in bold is the one I used. Which one has the highest quality, that will work in Premier? Thanks
Microsoft Video 1
Intel IYUV codec
Cinepak Codec by Radius
Xfire Video Codec
Xvid MPEG-4 Codec
Intel Indeo(R) Video 4.5
Edit: I'll decide which posts were most helpful after this =]
Edit 2: Do you reccomend using Stoik Video Converter, or VirtualDUB?
Edit 3: Thanks for your help, it's fixed now
Thanks for your help. I downloaded STOIK vid converter, which fixed the Premier Pro problem, and I installed DivX and updated all my other codecs, as well as delteing the XFire Codec, which was interfereing with all the other ones (xfcodec.dll)
