Could you send us the send us log file? (/workspace/.metadata/.log)
Also, how are you launching FC? By double clicking the FC app icon ? or double clicking the FXP file?
Are you using a firewall? If so, which one?
My workplace does use a firewall, yes, but I couldn't tell you which one.
This would be a firewall on your local machine, not the "corporate firewall".
If it's the built-in windows one, you can see it in the control panel, in the network connections app.
Obviously, if you can't determine what it is easily, that's cool. May not have anything to do with the issue.
The Windows firewall is turned off on my machine, and I haven't installed any others myself.

We still aren't sure exactly what's going on, but some common factors are emerging:
* Some people have firewall setting that are blocking Catalyst from communicating with itself, and these users have been able to work after adding firewall excpetions for Catalyst.
* Some people report that can run catalyst if they shut off their Internet connection. This is odd, but has been reported by more than one person.
I am able to run Catalyst after it fails once, to add to the tally.
Here's another thing that may help us track this down:
Look in the same folder as the Catalyst .EXE file -- e.g. "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash Catalyst" by default on XP. If you see any files with names like “hs_err_pid2236.log” (where the number varies), please post them here. (The "Date Modified" timestamp on the file should match one of the times that you tried to launch Catalyst and it didn't start).

I just tried to open it for the first time today, no log files in that directory and it silently failed.
Second go, opens fine.
The log file says:

about the first try
i dont see any message errors or nothing
im connected to the internet
im not running firewalls
just add a rule to me antivirus
add a rule to the DEP of windows
and it is still not running
i start the program, see the logo and then NOTHING HAPPENS
im on vista
it doenst run beacause of the os? i also have two gigas of ram like the other guy.
