I'm animating a brick path forming brick by brick.
I used a single brick symbol and repeated it over and over until it formed a path.
The file was a lot larger than I expected it to be since I used really only one brick.
Does the fact that I have a slew of layers explain why my file is on the heavier side?
Would the file be smaller if I used a single image of a complete brick path and animated a mask to reveal one brick at a time?
The number of layers has no effect on file size. What will affect file size is if you have replicated graphics a number of times without turning it into a symbol(eg graphic, movieclip) first. Try outputing size report(publish settings) to see where your file size is coming from.
Yes, the bricks are all instances of two symbols.
Size report thing is interesting. I'm going to read up on that. Like it.
I just used it to guide me with downsizing all of the larger images in the flash.
