Your description leaves me uncertain of which is which, but... In the embedding code for the animation, try setting the wmode variable value to be "transparent" IF you don't have that variable in the code, in your Publish Settings select the html output and in the HTML section select Transparent in the Window Mode selector. Then copy that code and paste it in place of the code that's there now.
Also Ned, what I'm looking for shows on the Adobe.com website front
page. There is a drop down menu bar that drops down over the
advertising animation just beneath it. The menus remain on top and
flow over the animation. That's what I'm trying to accomplish.

Okay, I set the Window Mode Selector to Transparent. Could not find
mcode variable. This did not help. On the page:
www.jimsobama.com the dropdown menu (green button named "Search
Test" is activated by mousing over the button. When that happens,
especially when sub categories are aimed at, you find the flashing
red test feature displacing the dropdown menu. My wish is for the
dropdown menu to remain intact and "on top" of the flashing red "test".
I had a problem like that once I was trying to overlay a google map over a as2 page I was fooling aroung vmode and such managed to get it working on one Browser but couldn't get it to work on another browser I finally said screw it I'll just learn as3 and make my sites all flash. I have no regrets.
thanks. I have solved my immediate problem on a couple of browsers
but haven't checked them all. Will keep this in mind.
