Code contains 9 errors. Help please!

    EstherH Level 1
      Hi,
I used http://validator.w3.org to check my code. It showed 9 errors. I have no idea about HTML and code, and could not understand what was wrong and how to fix them. I attached code and error message below.

Could anyone advise me? Many thanks.

I already answered this in your previous thread. Did you see it?

            Hi Murray,

I just checked the other thread "Page looks different in IE and Firefox", but did not find your post. Do you mind helping me to find it? Sorry for the inconvenience......

            Many thanks...

              Posted 9/18 @ 6:58am -

You can ignore all but the last. Typically embedded Flash elements when
done the way you have will not validate. That will not affect the rendering
              of the page.

It appears that you have an empty image map on the page -

              > Line 341 and 342 are:
              > <map name="Map" id="Map">
              > </map></body>

Just change those two lines to this -

              </body>
(i.e., remove the empty map altogether)

After fixing those are you still getting rendering differences? Are you
using tables for your layout? Do you count many colspan and rowspan
attributes in your code (hint: do a current document find for each of those
              two attributes in the source)?

The 'embed' element is invalid HTML, but supported in almost every
browser. If you want to do it standards-compliant, just use an 'object'
element, which works well enough in all modern browsers and IE >= 6.

I will just ignore all the errors reported as long as the pages looks good in Firefox or IE.

That's a bad strategy. It's OK to ignore some errors as long as you understand them. They may be warning you of problems that will occur in other browsers, or sometime in the future.
