I remember a problem in our office in which we could not get Web Services to work with Actionscript 3, but with AS1 and AS2. Thus, we were forced to use "WebORB". Will the new version of Flash Builder 4 enable the ability to use AS3 with Web Services so we will not have to use "WebORB"? Or will we still be forced to use this third party service?
What problem were you facing? Was it about crossdomain.xml by any chance? Applications built using AS3/Flash Builder 4 will definitely work with web services provided the service provider has a crossdomain.xml file.
In case your service provider does not have a crossdomain.xml file, you can use proxy services in BlazeDS/LCDS.
I don't believe this was the problem. I believe the problem was that when we were doing an Actionscript 3 project, the webservice functionality was not there. What I am trying to get to know is if the Web Service functionality in Flah Builder 4 is there for Actionscript 3 projects? We develop the services ourselves. We just need to know if we can eliminate WebORB from the equation completely.
