jdmoor Jun 11, 2009 12:06 PM (in response to Harm Millaard)Harm,
Got that part .. I have the chapter marks set on the timeline .. It's when I
export that timeline to an AVI that I'm loosing the chapter markers. In
older versions, there was a check box that said "Export DVD Chapter Points"
.. That's what I'm missing in Premiere/CS4. The AME doesn't seem to export
the 'timeline dvd chapter markers' with the AVI file.
Thanks,
Jd

GLSwallow Jul 8, 2009 7:56 AM (in response to jdmoor)No answer here but wanted to echo same problem. Dynamic Link passes the chapter points perfectly for me but the disadvantage is that you can not use encore3 to work with it and my MasterCollection 4 suite is still really glitchy both with and without the updates. Have tried exporting avi, mpg2, and m2v files via media encoder and I loose all my chapter points in each case.

Bill Hunt Jul 8, 2009 8:54 AM (in response to GLSwallow)Don't forget that one MUST name the DVD Chapter Markers. The name can be anything, but characters must be in the dialogue box. Do not know if this will help anyone, and is only a check in the workflow.

6. Re: How to Export AVI with DVD Chapter Points?
Harm Millaard Jul 8, 2009 8:56 AM (in response to GLSwallow)If you are using CS4, why consider using Encore CS3, when Encore CS4 is included?

7. Re: How to Export AVI with DVD Chapter Points?
GLSwallow Jul 8, 2009 11:39 AM (in response to Harm Millaard)The only reason for continuing with Encore CS3 is that with the CS4, have
been unable to stabilize it after two weeks and several hours of on phone
support with tech support. Only want I have found to get chapter markers to
encore4 is via the dynamic link, which itself has frozen more than once, and
after using the same file with named chapter markers in the name and
comments field, have been completely unsuccessful in exporting avi, mpg2, or
m2v files to encore with chapter markers. And, since dynamic link does not
work with encore3, I am left with the lament of authoring in PPro3 and using
Encore3 until my CS4 stabilizes.
My system is just not acting normally even with all the installs/reinstalls
(about 6-8), running with and without the 4.1 update. Just a real crazy
situation. Intel I940 chip with 6gb memory, GTX280 card with 1gb memory, 3
Tbs of SATA drives, Vista 64 ultimate. My other Adobe products (Photoshop
CS2, Premiere CS4, Acrobat Pro, Audition 3, etc.), all work flawlessly and
have since installing them on my new system in January. And, I am sure than
eventually, CS4 will also, but for now.......
Thanks for the feedback.

Maybe I just missed it, but have we established just which update version of CS4 you are using?
Good luck,

9. Re: How to Export AVI with DVD Chapter Points?
GLSwallow Jul 9, 2009 9:49 AM (in response to Bill Hunt)Thanks for the feedback but am apparently using the current updates: Encore
4=4.0.1.048 and Premiere=4.1.0 (113(MC:166418). I told my Adobe Tech guy by
mail today: I finished the project in Encore3 with absolutely no problems.
Today, I loaded this same file back into Encore4 and this time, the
transcode settings were correct, showing the same values as it did in
Encore3. This is about a 7.5gb file transcoded to 4.2gb. I then generated
a dvd+r from Encore4 with no problem. Go figure!

10. Re: How to Export AVI with DVD Chapter Points?
Bill Hunt Jul 10, 2009 10:33 AM (in response to GLSwallow)Interesting and glad that things seem to be working now.
Sometimes, I think that the "little guys" inside the computer just need a rest, or maybe a reassuring word?
Good luck,
Hunt
