Converting 16:9 footage from .M2TS to .MOV

I converted a .M2TS file (1440x1080) to QuickTime (720x480) using Adobe Media Encoder with the NTSC DV Widescreen preset.  The result .MOV file does not have the correct widescreen format.  It is horizontally squeezed.  Am I missing a setting?

Thanks for helpin a newbie in video conversion...

The short answer is just don't ever use Quicktime - for anything.  Hell, don't even install it.

The slightly more involved answer is that there is nothing wrong with the file.  The problem is that the Quicktime player doesn't "unsquish" the anamorphic video automatically.  You have to tell it to do so.  I follow my own advice above, so I can't tell you how to do that.  What I can say is that other players (VLC, GOM, KM Player) have menu and keyboard shortcuts which make this manual aspect ratio change fairly easy.
