In CS4`s advanced OpenGL settings there is an option called "compositing" (hope that`s right, because I have a german version). There are the options "gamma-corrected", "linear" and "none". I can`t find anything about it in the help section. What exactely does it mean?

          • Debugging: Compositing: Gamma Corrected: Uses a perceptually correct approach to compositing the image over the checkerboard.
          • None: Does not composite the image over the checkerboard (results in black over the translucent areas).
          • Linear: Uses a linear blending approach to apply the checkerboard compositing.

Isn't that nice and confusing? What that controls is how Photoshop displays the transparency of the image. For instance, if it's set to None, transparency will be shown as black instead of the white/gray checkerboard pattern
