9. Re: Unable to rezise any object or text box
Jesseham Jun 16, 2009 4:24 PM (in response to 123qwaszx)Can you attach a screenshot of a selected object? Are you sure that you're using the move tool? (the black arrow accessed by hitting "v") Is this happening to one object only or everything that you create? In a new document?
You'll have to bear with the rudimentary questions for such a fundamental issue.

10. Re: Unable to rezise any object or text box
Steve Fairbairn Jun 16, 2009 4:30 PM (in response to 123qwaszx)Did you perchance turn bounding boxes off?
Otherwise I always prefer S for scale and R for rotate, that way you can mark the centre of scaling/ rotating accurately.
-
11. Re: Unable to rezise any object or text box
123qwaszx Jun 16, 2009 4:37 PM (in response to Steve Fairbairn)As I've said, bounding box are already turned on.
It happens with any object or any text box in any document, even if I create a new document. I can't resize or rotate with the move tool (black arrow) and I also can't transform objects (moving only one line or one point..) with the direct selection tool (white arrow). The only thing I can do white these tools is select.

14. Re: Unable to rezise any object or text box
[scott] Jun 16, 2009 5:02 PM (in response to 123qwaszx)I wish I did. I can only guess though... Ctrl-Alt-Shift + launch AI. But I know Ctrl-Alt-Shift has other repercussions on a PC at times.
Essentially You want to remove the "Settings" files. I think on a PC they are located directly in the Adobe Illustrator Folder. Try moving the Settings folder to your desktop and then relaunching Illustrator.

FYI when ever you come across a problem that all of a sudden pops up out of the blue for no reason, you no there is a reason and it is always an update a new install of a font, application, a haxie or a plug in and or a profile other form of calibration.
The only other things to suspect new or failing hardware. In the case of new hardware usually the drivers and usually going on line for the update solves the problem as you are probably not the first one to notice it.
However you may have been the first one to pin it down in which case you will do everyone a big favor by reporting it to Apple and who knows maybe the will ask you to become a Apple Seed. That's one of their beta software and hardware testers.
In the case of hardware failure it can effect your system as if you have a bug in the application and surprisingly from my experience…and this is hard to believe…it usually effects one application first and as the failure becomes more complete it starts to affect other applications and then finally the system.
A software update just disconnected one of my printers from a wireless network and I could not connect in frustration I turned it off for the third time and said to myself that I was just going to forget about this turned it back on and it connected.
So restarting often solves problems as well.
Check for updates to for an update from Apple or report if they fix it everybody will be pleased.

28. Re: Unable to rezise any object or text box
NewLifePuppet Feb 7, 2012 11:52 AM (in response to 123qwaszx)Shift + Ctrl + B will fix the resizing problem. You probably hit a hot key combination by mistake. I'm not sure the combination on Mac, but it's under View > Hide/Show Bounding Box
Ctrl + H will enable the nodes again. Again, probably a keyboard accident. It's also under View > Hide/Show Edges.
Hope this helps. God bless you all!

Larry G. Schneider Aug 27, 2014 2:48 PM (in response to dragonspyder)What didn't work? If you are trying to reset the preferences then you need to mash the keys as you click on Open/restart of the application. If you do it right you will get a confirmation dialog asking if you wish to reset the preferences.

34. Re: Unable to rezise any object or text box
pedroangelo Oct 2, 2014 12:39 PM (in response to 123qwaszx)The same problem happened to me. The solution i found in another forum:
"Under the "View" menu, make sure it says "hide bounding box" - that means it's currently on. If it's currently off, as is probably the case, it will say "show bounding box". Click on it. Hopefully that will solve your problem.
The keyboard shortcut for that is ctrl-shift-B. "
