    Internal Error on Startup

    Jedi-1

      Hi,

I am using Web Premium CS4 and I have been using Fireworks CS4 for over 3 months now. Today, on startup of Fireworks I get the message "internal Error" after the splash screen and I cannot do anything else or even close fireworks.

Does any one have a remedy?

Do you have the latest update installed?

Get it here - Fireworks CS4 10.0.3 updater

            You could try:

            Restoring default preferences

            Quit Fireworks.

Locate the Fireworks  Preferences file on your hard disk and delete it.

The exact location of this file varies from system to system.

In Windows, preferences are      in your user-specific Fireworks configuration folder.

            Windows [Drive]:\Documents and Settings\[UserName]\Application Data\Adobe\Fireworks CS#\English\

In Mac OS, preferences are in   the Library/Preferences folder in your user folder. For information about      locating your Mac OS user folder, see Apple Help.

            Mac  [User]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Fireworks CS#/en/Fireworks Preferences

Note: On Mac OS, most  Fireworks user-specific configuration files are stored in your   user-specific Application Support folder.

The Fireworks CS4 Preferences file is an exception.

Restart Fireworks. The next time Fireworks is launched, a new preferences   file will be created that restores Fireworks to its original   configuration.

Thanks all, but I have tried the deleting the preferences file. I have applied both the Air updates and the Windows CS4 updates and I still get the same internal error message on startup. I also cannot close the error message box or exit fireworks without alt cntrl delete.

              Any other ideas?

No, sorry I'm out of ideas - generally trashing the preference folder brings everything back into line.

                I found this technote

All I can suggeset is going through the steps and nothing helps, then the last resort would be to contact Adobe Support.

Thanks, I went back and deleted both files the preferences.txt and the prefs.xml and then reopened FireWorks and it opened ok. I'll let you know if it fails again or if this didn't work.

                  Thanks again
