Is it possible to use offset path to outline the perimeter of an object? My path always ends up inside the object. I attached a picture of what's happening.
I am afraid this might not make sense to many users. Do you want the stroke to be outside the path or inside the path?
Do you want it to be a distance away fro the path making it larger.
A negative offset will put your stroke inside, a positive offset will put your stroke outside.
I would like the stroke to be outside the path. And the offset is positive in that picture.
What seems to be happening there is that you have your background the same color as your stroke, so when you offset the shape, all you are able to see is the offset fill on the outside of the original shape, making it appear that the stroke is offset to the inside. Make sense?
When you use object->path->offset path, you're creating a copy of your shape. When you use effect->path->offset path... you'll just be moving the selected path. That might be what you're looking for.
Okay, I understand what your saying. Thanks for also giving me the tip about offsetting the path!
