Hi there, when I try and export an AI file to PS, choosing Write Layers with Preserve Text Editabilty checked and/or Maximum Editablity checked, all I get is a message saying Illustrator flattened some layers. Yeah!...it flattens all of them. What's the deal? Anyone seen this. BTW, CS4 on both programs, but does the same in CS3. Thanks for any input.
Just for curiosity sake did you try s higher resolution say 300ppi for the export setting?
Photoshop doesn't understand Illustrator's transparency functions. You will have better luck removing them in AI and recreating them in PS. Or barring that move the text to the top layer.
As Larry said, if it gets flattened, then it's because of a difference in transparency or blending mode treatments. Depending on what you use, setting layers to Normal blending may sometimes retain more editable data. For some modes also converting from RGB to CMYK or vice versa offers a way out....
