    LoadMovie question

    mentlity Level 1

      I have an flv player inside an swf (call it sub1.swf) the flv player has xml files that need to be in the same folder in order to work. I use a main swf to call the flv player  that is inside the sub1.swf with loadMovie this works fine as the path is  (in main.swf) loadMovie("sub.swf",1);

      My problem is I have 8 other sub swf pages with 1 flv player in each and I cannot put these sub .swfs in the same folder as sub 1 because the xml files all have the same names and this will cause none of them to work. My only other idea is to put each sub.swf with xml and flv player files in its own folder so I have 9 folders with 9 separate sub.swfs. So the path is

      (in main.swf)

      loadMovie("folder1/sub1.swf",1);

      loadMovie("folder2/sub2.swf",1);

      loadMovie("folder3/sub3.swf",1);

      This does not work,there has to be another way to do this.

      anybody?

          use loadMovieNum() if you want to load into levels and use different levels for each swf.

          loadMovieNum("folder1/sub1.swf",1);

          loadMovieNum("folder2/sub2.swf",2);

          loadMovieNum("folder3/sub3.swf",3);

            OK, but loadMovieNum does not work when the path is

            loadMovieNum ("folder1/sub.swf",1)

            only works for

            loadMovieNum ("sub.swf",1)

            when I put the folder1 the swf is in (in the path) it doesn't work.

            ???????

              then you have the wrong folder name or the wrong swf name or the others are loading and you don't see them.

              p.s.  the path will be relative to the embedding html file.

                Gotta be something as I tried this with separate swfs and still get

                the same thing. Just to make sure here is another scenerio which I tried

                loadMovieNum("resume.swf",1); works fine.

                if I take resume.swf and put it in a folder called xxx so I have

                loadMovieNum("xxx/resume.swf",1); this does not work

                the action is in the first frame of my main.swf which just has the

                action in the timeline and nothing else it loads resume.swf into level1

                ?????????

                  is xxx a subfolder of the folder that contains your main (the one with the loadMovieNum code) swf and the embedding html?   are you testing by opening the html in your browser or in the test environment?

                    mentlity Level 1

                    main.swf (main movie)

                    sub1.swf (movie loaded into level 1 of main)

                    xxx is folder that sub1.swf is in.

                    and just to be sure I changed swfs to the following:

                    main.swf first frame action    loadMovieNum("resume.swf",1); works fine.

                    if I take resume.swf and put it in a folder called xxx so I have

                      loadMovieNum("xxx/resume.swf",1); this does not work

                    I'm trying in the test environment.

                      what does resume.swf have to do with this?

                        resume.swf is a total differerent file. I used it to make sure that it

                        wasn't an error in sub.swf",1)

                        to clear up any confusion

                        LoadMovieNum ("sub.swf",1) works

                        LoadMovieNum ("folder1/sub.swf",1) DOES NOT WORK

                        I'm trying in the test environment.

                          double check your spelling on the folder name(s).  if you're certain folder1 is spelling correctly, zip you fla, swf, html and folder1 along with sub1.swf and attach it to this forum or upload it a server and post a link.

                            http://www.dagwaremedia.com/loadmovie_tests.zip

                            The link above will download a zip with the following inside

                            main_w_folder

                            AC_RunActiveContent

                            .fla

                            .html

                            .swf

                            main

                            .fla

                            .html

                            .swf

                            sub1

                            .fla

                            .html

                            .swf

                            xxx -folder

                            AC_RunActiveContent

                            sub1

                            .fla

                            .html

                            .swf

                            All I need to do is to correctly code the path so I can use loadMovie to open a file. The loadMovie action is in frame 1 of main.swf

                            As stated in previous posts

                            loadMovieNum("sub1.swf",1); works fine

                            but I need to open from within another folder like this

                            loadMovieNum("xxx/sub1.swf",1); this does not work

                            It has to be the way I'm coding as I tried this in both running from a desktop and with the files on a server..

                              why is that you think

                              loadMovieNum("xxx/sub1.swf",1);

                              does not work

                                Very strange! I just tried the exact file I made and it now works, I'm

                                not gonna even think about why it wasn't working before. So just to be

                                safe I'm going to make sure I refresh all files as I see it is working

                                now.

                                Sorry about the stupidity
