Anyone able to advise (tutorial or otherwise) how to do a simple bump map in AEFX.
A simulated (easy to do) bump map effect would be fine as well.
I need to apply a graphic (tapa cloth design) onto some objects like a stucco wall, a woven basket, a steel door, ...
Blend modes get me some way there but a little more shape would be better still.
Texturize is your friend. It uses a simple luminance based embossing algorithm. For more fancy stuff you will probably have to check tools like Boris Continuum Complete or Digieffects Berserk which have bump map filters. Another alternative would be to work based on normal maps. NVidia still offers there Photoshop plug-ins for free and the resulting normal images can be imported into AE to treat them with Normality, ZBornToy or Shape/Shade to give them depth. Likewise, tools like Freeform or 3DLayer can use displacment maps. There's a million ways to skin the cat....
I will go and have a play with Texturise now.
