    Link Picture To Flash

    dean19693
      Hello,

      I want to link a picture on my webpage to a flash.

      I need the flash movie to come up on the page in place of the picture. For example: Click on the picture and flash movie starts.

      I work with Dreamweaver.

      Can anybody help?

      P.S. My site isn't up yet.

      Thanks!

          While I'm not as familiar with DW as I'd like to be, there's a feature in
          Expression Web and FrontPage which I think the idea for came from DW; Layers
          and Behaviors.
          I've been able to do pretty much what you're asking about. The behavior is
          "set layer text" which can also be HTML code. so basically I'll lay a div
          on the page (the layer) and put the image inside it. then use the "onclick"
          event to trigger the set layer text behavior. the text that goes in the
          layer (replacing the image) is the HTML code for the flash object.

          HTH

            I don't believe that this will work with Active content, Chris. At least
            not with FLVs. It may work with SWF files, though. And you aren't
            restricted to its use with 'layers' in any DW (well, in DW8 and earlier, the
            element had to be a 'layer' to see it in the behavior UI, but you could
            remove the position style after using the behavior and everything would
            still work fine). In CS3/CS4, the behavior will allow you to set the text
            (i.e., innerHTML) of ANY element with an ID.

              Another option, in the interest of keeping things as simple as
              possible, is to create a duplicate of the page. On the duplicate,
              replace the image with the Flash animation. Then make the image a
              regular link to the duplicate page.

              <style type="text/css">
              #flashholder {
              width : 300px ;
              margin : 0 auto ;
              }
              </style>
              </head>

              In imagefile.html:
              <body>
              <div id="flashholder">
              <a href="flashfile.html"><img src="flashjpg.jpg" width="300" ...>

              And in flashfile.html:
              <body>
              <div id="flashholder">
              <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" ...>

                Thanks but I don't understand the html/css stuff.

                My DW is older.......mx.

                How do you put an html code inside a picture or flash?

                Thanks again!
