2. Re: Dual Processor and Premiere
pcford Jun 28, 2009 11:31 AM (in response to pcford)Did not search first....sorry...one of my soapbox issues. It appears that Premiere Pro can use dual processors.
Am considering a HPXW6600 dual xenon quad
Appreciate any comments.

Bill Hunt Jun 28, 2009 12:42 PM (in response to pcford)Since at least PrPro 2.0, it's been multi-processor aware. One can even see the detection phase during the splash screen.
Now, I'd venture that each version has become even more aware, with possibly better utilization of multiple processors, as well as multiple cores..
Good luck,
Hunt

Harm Millaard Jun 28, 2009 2:48 PM (in response to pcford)Read this thread and all the links there. You probably do not want an HP after reading all the info.

5. Re: Dual Processor and Premiere
Bill Gehrke Jun 28, 2009 4:54 PM (in response to pcford)The HPXW6600 is using the Xeon 54xx series the last generation of processors and they are obsolete (unfortunately that processor is what i have in my self-built system}. If you are going to go with dual Xeon's you want to get the newer 55xx series which are the Nehalem family (like the i7 processors) which are much much faster for Premiere. They also do not have practical graphics cards available. Etc. Etc.
I guess I am going to have to go into business building Premiere engines we seem to strike out with too many vendors.
