What OS are you using, and which version of Director? I am not seeing
what you are talking about. All the font dropdowns have scrollbars,
except on D11 on Mac in which case there is a little arrow at the bottom
that allows you to scroll to see the further down fonts.
OS 10.5.4, Director 10.1.
I'll describe what I'm doing:
I open a text window, type a name and the text.
I click the font scroll bar and can only scroll down to Caslon Bold Italic. Then it stops. There is a word "Font" at the bottom of this scrolled window.
When I click on "Font" another window opens (titled "Font"), with another scroll bar. This scrolling window also stops at Caslon Bold Italic.
I can't access any fonts with names farther down the alphabet.
Apparently that is one of the things they fixed in D11. You now have
access to all the fonts. At least on my Mac... I do not have D10 on
Mac, so I can't test it, but I did verify that the problem you mentioned
is a bug in Director 9.
Thanks. I assume 11 is an (expensive) upgrade. I guess I'll see if there was a 10.x upgrade that might have solved the problem. Thanks. I guess the issue is closed.
I had the same problem and renamed the fonts I wanted to use in Fontographer so they would appear in the list ie I gave them an 'a' prefix.
But you must then embed them in the movie.
In D10 there should be an option at the bottom of the font drop down 'Font...' (this also appears in the right click /ctrl click contextual menu in text/field members) choosing that should give you a list of all fonts - although some fonts appear to be named differently in Macromedia apps also.
