    Can a module be skinned?

I have several modules that all need to have the same background gradient effect.  Can I skin a mx:module?  If so, how?  I can't seem to find a skinClass property.

Or, alternatively, is there a spark alternative to mx:module?

I found that I can add a SkinnableContainer as the root child to the module and apply the skin to that container.  That said,  it only applies the skin correctly if the width and height are explicitely stated in both the module and container (i.e. using % values does not work).
