Look at Matt Chotin's response. He is an Adobe employee.
1. buy Flex 3 either version (Std $249, or Pro $699, or cheaper if you qualify for an upgrade)
2. buy Maintenance plan from reseller (to match version in #1, 99 or 299 respectfully)
voila, you are entitled to a no-charge, fully licensed version of FB4 when released.
or, buy Flex3 without a maintenance plan and roll the dice with upgrade pricing in 6 months.
once you get your Flex3 serial number there are links to go and type it in to extend your Beta 4 til FB4 release. And keep patching your FB4 along the way as the patches come out almost daily, at least now. In the coming months I imagine they will slow down.
I already own Flex 3 Pro. I'm not worried about upgrading, I just want to continue learning the NEW flex SDK etc. You say there are links that I can go to and extend my trial?
The URL to get a Flash Builder 4 extension serial number (for Flex Builder 3 owners) is http://www.adobe.com/go/flashbuilderextension.
For more information, see http://blogs.adobe.com/flex/archives/2009/06/flash_builder_beta_serial_numb.html.
need the link still ? sorry out and about
Nope, thanks. I am , however, having trouble finding where to get the patches..
The latest Nightly Flex 4 SDK builds can be downloaded from http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/Download+Flex+4
After installing the new SDK and changing your Flex project to point to new SDK, you may need to restart Builder (due to an issue that was fixed in later builds). A few more details are available at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/459154
