you can remove duplicates from any array by passing it to the function below:
a = removeDupsF(a);
this is going to sound stupid, but how do I pass an array through that function?
do I call it as "removeDupsF(myArray):Array;" ? When I tested the program by itself without making up a dummy array (I don't know how it ties together yet) I got a pop up telling me the program was taking longer than expected and asked if I would like to abort.

The first line of the code that was provided is showing how to use it.... a = removeDupsF(a); where 'a' is the array you are adjusting.
did you change anything in the function body? if not, what exactly did you do that caused that error?
Thank you very much Ned for deciphering, and kglad for coding ^_^
Both myself and my room mate were baffled by the cryptic code. I assumed it worked, because kglad stuff almost always works, but when I replaced each instance of "a" with my array name, and then used the removeDupsF(my array name); function inside the button (this was my room mate's suggestion, I originally placed it inside the enter frame causing it to look less crisp) it all worked seemlessly.
