It doesn't appear you downloaded a complete file, but a partial download of an updater for a version of Acrobat Reader.
This will give you Reader 9.1. You can then find the links to the updaters in a similar location.
Hello Michael , thanks for the help, but the address you sent me, it says internet explorer cannot open this page, then from this site I tried again, it says done on the bottom of scree but , no page, and it says (yellow yield sign) opened with errors, but does not open, so I came back to adobe forum, Message /2088614#2088614. my computer says all outside connections are Ok. ftp:ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/wind/9.x/enu/AdbeRdr910_en_UE.exe this is the address I put in. Any more ideas, I hope so , This is not good, I can't even get rid of the program, Is there a manual way to uninstall (remove program adobe 9). I tried installing adobe 8, and it downloads 90% and stops and freezes. Jess

says internet explorer cannot open, and I did diagnosis, and
it says all connections are fine. , On the Forum, I say a
note from graffiti, Dated 07/28/2006 , he said run the
Microsoft Insatller Cleanup Utility and Remove all traces of
Reader. So that is 36 month advice , is it even offered.
And have you tried to remove it with the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility? This is still the best way to do it when your uninstall information are missing or corrupt.

The FTP site times out a lot for me but I am behind a proxy server which may be contributing to that.
but i still could not re install adobe 9, but i installed
adobe 8 and i'm happy with that, thank you for all the help

COULD NOT RE INSTALL ADOBE 9, I WAS ABLE TO INSTALL ADOBE 8

I saw your notes re Adobe Reader. I am trying to uninstall ver 8.1.1 and 8.1.3, but I cannot uninstall unless I have the installation file(s). I believe you have it/them and would be most appreciative if you you send me the installation file(s).

The download link for the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility was posted earlier in this topic, post #5, but here it is once more:
Download it, install it, then run it from Start | Programs | Windows Install Clean Up. Select 'Adobe Reader', then click on Remove.
