This is probably the problem. You have the available disk space, barely! I will guess that since Illustrator also by default selects your start up disk as the scratch disk i might possible calculates that as well and to GB might not what it sees as enough considering a variety of reason most important that your disk probably has less than 10%.
I recommend getting another hard drive something substantial so you have room for future needs perhaps an external drive.
Then move some of the files off of your start up disk 20-30 more GBs.
Do a little cleaning and system maintenance. There >>>may<<< be 11.8 GB of unallocated space, but it may be
b) reserved for system files like the hibernation cache, system restore files, the swap file
c) inaccessible due to permission problems
Therefore the actual amount of disk space AI could use may be much smaller. All of the above problems can be fixed with your operating system's tools and changing some configuration, but you will have to provide more specific info before we can advise.
I 'accidently' solved the problem. My primary disc was only 300MB free (and
I thought it had nothing to do with this). I was cleaning it up (made it
1GB), and somehow now the installation succeeded.
I don't know how or why it happened, but it installed.
Yu didn't accidentally solve anything I wrote this in my first post you did not tell us by the way you had more than one disk and that 11 gbs is all you have left. You will find unless you get more hard disk space that you will not be able to run any programs at all.
I read your reply a little late, thanks anyway!
