Can not edit in Design mode

Hello,

Some thing strange has happened today, I can not change the FONT size, type or style?  when I click on the font drop list it doesn't show anything same as for the font style, both only show a white rectangle and when I try to change the font size nothing happens I choose the size of the font but nothing happens? I can do everything in the HTML, but can't do it in the design mode. any suggestions? all the files are writeable.
