Should CMD-Q fire a different "closing" event?

On Mac, the cmd-Q shortcut key should completely close an application.

In my AIR app, I need to preventDefault on the closing event when it occurs on windows other than the main application so that I can reopen them later (in this case, it's a window that displays logging information).  However, by doing that, it also means that the CMD-Q (quit) command get intercepted and stopped if that window is opened when it happens.

It seems like CMD-Q (and ALT-F4 on windows) should be a more "hard" close that always targets the application (or at least the main application window).
