How far are you into this project?
thanks for your reply.
I would say 30%.
Why? I must give up?
I mainly use flex as a presentation language - so, the php gives the content and flex displays it in a really nice way.
to get custom URL's i recomend using a php script that processes symlinks or you could just create a directory in the root with the username :\
for google, Google doesnt take requests (except from http://www.google.com/addurl/) but you can use this in an application due to the captcha
so its just a matter of time before your url gets indexed.
Thank you very much for your reply.
Very useful information.
I didn't know that google has this kind of apps.
How can I manage to automize the "www.google.com/addurl" after a user subscription?
I'm not 100% certain if or how it can be done but I was working with a programmer a couple years back who said he had written code to parse the url at the web server level.
Thus, (because I was trying to solve much the same problems you outline) when a visitor entered www.yoursite.com/bob78 the "bob78" could be parsed out and used to direct the visitor appropriately without having to create separate folder/directories on the webserver for each new user who signs up with your site. Again, sorry I don't have specific code or anymore guidance but on the aforementioned basis I'm about 98% sure it can be done.
Thanks for your reply,
I'm also sure that it can be done with flex ...
But, i don't have any idea how to code it?
If anyone can post a sample code it would be very nice.
