Try setting it to Full Screen mode, and then back again.
Thanks for your reply. I've tried this too, days ago. It doesn't work. Every time i open documents, they fill the complete screen and i've to resize.
I had the same problems, outlined halfway through this thread:
After a complete fresh install on a new install of OS X it seemd to be resolved, then installing an application (I don't know which) broke it again, sometime later (I keep all my apps up to date) I noticed it was working, but one of the installed plugins was breaking something else.
I now have it working fine, albeit with fewer plug-ins (I still haven’t proved which one it was that caused the second problem)
I'm afraid I can't tell you which other bit of Software caused the problem in the first place, but I can confirm that some installed applications working alongside FWCS4 do cause it to open documents in 'too big' windows...
try turning off open in tabs and try not using the Application Frame - both of those helped me. But also try updating all your other applications in case a later version of them resolves your problem (it seems to have done that for me, at least)
Yes, it seems that we have the same problem. I'll also test a little bit more. My other programms stays updated everytime. I'm not in the mood to remove other programms to see whats happen then. I'll disable the plug-ins. I have to live with, if this doesn't fix the problem ...
Try creating another user account on your mac and running FW with that, if it works perfectly, it's a clear indicator of another application conflict.
It's what got me headed down that track - after I'd deleted, re-installed FW a few times I tried a different user and it was perfect - which was especially frustrating!
maybe we should compare lists of installed applications, so we might see which are common to us both, and which might be the culprit.
http://cottage.quynh-and-brian.org:8180/appster/ will make a list and you can direct message it to me if you wish
You have a PM ...
here's the list of common to us both, non system apps:
Adobe AIR Application Installer 1.5.1
Adobe AIR Installer 1.5.1
Adobe Bridge CS4 188.8.131.524
"Adobe Extension Manager CS4 ""184.108.40.2064"" © 2000-2008 Adobe Systems Incorporated"
Adobe Media Player 1.1
Adobe Updater Adobe Updater 220.127.116.114
Disc Cover 2 RE 388
Dropbox Dropbox 0.6.507
"Fireworks Adobe Fireworks CS4 version ""10.0.3.011""
Little Snitch Configuration 2.1.4
Toast Titanium 9.0.5 (254)
if yours are older than that, try updating them.
alternatively try uninstalling any that might affect new document window size... (I was suspicious of Little Snapper for a while)
Oh help! I was changing the setting to "Use Application Frame" (it was all the time switched off before) and now here the window size is not changing anymore. I also tried to switch back to not use the frame. No success. The same big window again. Right now (who know how long) this setting works for me ...
Ah, I could use Application frame for the first image, but not to open a second, nor open one from disk, when I did that this happened:
maybe your issue is different then?
No. I was opening 4 existing files and a newly created one. It worked well, without the issue you described. Maybe it's because my screen is just that very small 24" ...
I hope it continues to work okay for you then.
I seemed to have problems with both in and out of application frame...
In a different user account it opened the new document to fit the canvas, not the screen size.
when it wasn't working properly it opened a new document to fit the screensize, regardless of application frame, or not.
Yeah. With Adobe Products our life is never boring ...
