Thanks for your answer. I tried playing with the gridFitType, and although the suppixel setting provides better positioning/spacing of the characters, the characters itself are still blurry.
I am looking for way to really disable anti-aliasing.

I am not entirely sure as I am new to flex, but through research I believe that if you are embedding fonts you might want to utilize flash as that will allow you to turn off anti aliasing. You can also select which characters those fonts will be used for to save on overall size. Not sure if thats what you need, just thought I would throw it out for you
I think in many cases, even if you turn off embedded fonts, that the OS will antialias the font as well. One thing that use to work was to set cacheAsBitmap=true. It eats memory, but used to work. Not sure it still does. It might require changing opaqueBackground as well.
