Best way to blur an object in a video?

    Webshark2000 Level 1

I've got a video clip with a product in it that we can't show.  What's the easiest/fastest way to blur out the product's logo using AE?  The logo moves around in the shot, so I'll have to be able to move the blur with it.

      Thanks.

I'd try to track the footage to a null, parent masked solid to null and use that as track matte for blurred duplicate of footage.

If I had a bit of more time, I'd try to learn Mocha, which is a standalone planar tracker included with CS4.  I believe that can output a matte which you'd use as track matte for blurred duplicate of footage.

Let me see if I understand you corrctly.

            1. Create a null layer.

            2. Track the movement of the object in the frame to the null layer (not exactly sure how to do this).

            3. Create a solid layer (is white ok?).

            4. Mask the solid layer to fit over the object I want to blur.

            5. Put a blur effect on the solid layer.

            6. Parent the solid layer to the null layer.

            Is this correct?

For the most part, but you need to add one step:

              7. Turn on the adjustment layer switch on your solid, so it blurs the masked and tracked itme below it, not the solid itself.

For info on tracking, check this section in the help  files.

                Thanks, that worked great!
