I'm working on a big website mockup, with many 1 pixel strokes. As such, I need objects to lie on increments of .5 pixels.
Currently, when I drag objects around, they land at random increments, for some reason mostly .297, .497, .697.
I tried setting up a grid at .5 pixel increments, and setting it to snap to grid, but it doesn't work. Still lands on odd decimal values.
Does anyone know how I can get Illustrator to only move things around by 1 pixel increments?
in preferences set your document units to pixels and your keyboard increment to 1 (or 0.5 or whatever). Use your keyboard arrows to nudge the art into position.
don't use strokes when working on websites as they always get messy. Instead, add another fill below the current one and then with that fill selected, go to Effect->Path->Offset Path to create the illusion of a stroke.
Changing the keyboard increment to anything lower than 1pixel is useless if you have View->Pixel Preview and View->Snap to Pixel selected
