You can play an MOV file in Windows Media Player? That alone is a bit suspicious.
Regardless, MOVs can use any of a wide variety of codecs, some of which may not be compatible with with Premiere Elements.
The best advice is to convert it to a DV-AVI using Prism Video Converter, per the FAQs to the right of this forum.
Though it works better with MPEG and AVI files, you might want to look at your file in G-Spot to get its real properties and CODEC. If this does not work, open the file in QT Player and hit Ctrl-j (I think that this works for both the regular, and the Pro version), to see the Properties.
I'm with Steve, in that the MOV should not play in WMP.
I confirm, the file is not viewable in Win Media Player. It was QT that can play the video. So I assume that I will convert all MOV files to AVI prior to importing into AP7. I am confused though because I believe that the AP7 help indicates that MOV files can be imported.
I have a video converter program called "Any Video Converter" recommended by downloads.com (CNET). When I try to convert the mov to AVI there are many video codec options, none of which are DV AVI.
The codec options include:
What is my best choice for PE7
Premiere Elements will read many MOV files -- although, as I said, MOVs can use any of dozens of codecs and not all are compatible with the program.
If you use the Prizm video converter I recommended above, at the settings I linked to you, you'll have no problems using the file.
I just connected your name with your guide to APE7 book that I purchased and read c to c. Excellent work Thanx. I think I will move to your muvipix forum now.
