Please Help - Making a gradient background in Adobe Fireworks.

    Driven Republic Level 1

I have been using Fireworks for years and know a lot about it.
However, I am trying to make a background gradient.

      The process:

Draw a a rectangle 500px by 600px, select the fill/gradient tool from the property panel and pick the two colors that will make the gradient.
Then I crop the rectangle to 1px wide by 600px height.

I'll apply this to the page by adding background image, repeat x.

The problem is the gradient is not smooth, it has visible horizontal lines.

I have noticed that the line appears more on the darker end then the light side.

This is what it looks like. http://www.patrickjudson.com/gradient_background.php

If you look at this background carefully, you see horizontal lines.

I have tried every method I know but this breakup continues to appear.

Is there a way to do this better with out getting this horizontal line on the image/background?

      Thanks everyone - Patrick
