You should use a Canvas with an HBox in it:

Thank you for the reply, Greg. Unfortunately, using your example resulted in the third button (the one outside the hbox) displaying right over the top of the first and second button. Did I miss something, or misunderstand your post?:
<mx:HBox id="hb1" left="10">
<mx:Button label="B1" />
<mx:Button label="B2" />
<mx:Button label="B3" right="10" />
You may need to set the width of your Canvas as well. Best to set it to 100%.
