Mac G5 Mac OSX CS4 - I am creating a visual for a website and have an image I wish to insert into the outlined words 'wellnessworkplace' but the image does not show when the Clipping mask is applied. I realise that this must be the result of multiple paths of the outlined text but I have a recollection I used to be able to do this in CS2. At the moment I have made a Pathfinder Compound shape of the word on a lite grey rectangle and the image sits underneath to get the effect but this has drawbacks and I would prefer to use a Clipping mask.
I'm running CS3 and never really noticed this before, maybe CS4 is the same. The only way I could get the clipping mask to work is to select the outlined text, go to Object>Compound Path>Make. Then select everything and create the clipping mask (be sure the text is on top).
Thanks Ozzwoman9 - did the trick fine, I would have disappeared into my personal black hole before I would have found that one out.
Took me a few minutes to get it too
Also noticed that if I left text live (not converted to outlines) that the clipping mask seemed to work just fine like that...weird.
