1. Re: What encode setting are used when sending to Encore from Premiere?
nados Jul 28, 2009 4:23 PM (in response to nados)Ok....
I answered my question after reading the Encore CS4 help doc. The default transcode setting is different depending on the number, length, and size of the assets and the available disc space Encore has assuming the transcode setting is set to "Automatic". It would be nice to see what export settings it altered/chose in this mode.
Do most of you let it stay on Automatic or do you all pick a preset?

Joe Bowden Jul 28, 2009 8:23 PM (in response to nados)The 'Automatic' transcoding setting is dynamic - it changes whenever you add or subtract from the project. One of the main benefits of using it is that Encore will automatically calculate the bit budget for your disc.
But if it's somehow not working out, you need to reconsider using it.
Normally, I do my own bit budget (there are several online bit budgeting apps out there). But then, I'm a 'manual' kinda guy...

nados Jul 29, 2009 10:09 AM (in response to Joe Bowden)It working, I'd just like to know what its doing. Maybe by displaying the export settings panel with the automatic settings it came up with.

Bill Hunt Aug 4, 2009 4:22 PM (in response to nados)Once the Transcoding has been done, you can find out in the Project Panel, just what it chose. Note: you may have to scroll the Project Panel a bit to see this info, depending on your display setup.
Good luck,
Hunt
PS the reason that it will not tell you before you Transcode, is because it doesn't know yet, until it surveys your Project and completes.
