    Audio splits when adding video

      I have added music to my project as a soundtrack, but I am still have trouble with the program splitting the audio when I had a video clip.  Using Premiere Elements 7 under Windows Vista Home Premium.  Any help apprciated.

          First, welcome to the forum.

           

          Please explain how you are adding the Clips. That might yield a key.

           

          Also, the music is the last thing that I do in my workflow. I edit completely, and when satisfied, add a Soundtrack. Since I use SmartSound's SonicFire Pro 5 very often, I need to Export a "reference video w/ its audio" to do my scoring. If I need to go back and do much editing, the client will have to pay for a redo of the reference AV, and reworking the score in SonicFire Pro.

            Now, it depends on what you want to happen, if you are dragging the Clip from the Project Panel. If you want to replace other footage and not affect the Soundtrack, hold down the Ctrl key. If you want everything to "make room" for the new Clip, hold down the Alt key.
