Why are you keeping your users at with an old bug-ridden security poor version of Reader. If you upgrade to the most recent version of Reader 8. or 9 the problem might disappear.
If the version of Reader you are using is not causing the problem, you might try to delete and then re-install the printer driver.
We are currently looking at upgrading to reader 9 but I am waiting for the email from adobe to come back to me. All our users are on the same version and this is the only user that is experiencing the problem so your comment is invalid. If anyone has some useful info i would greatly appreciate it.

Why is it invalid to suggest to look at the printer driver? Do all users use the same printer, with the same driver version?
There are about 10 users on that printer none of them have any issues when it comes to printing from any application. As i mentioned in my first post this user has a problem in adobe and not in any other application. The default printer would be the selected printer when the dialog box appears, this takes time in adobe but is instant with every other application. I would think it is not the print driver.
After installing adobe reader 9.1 and reinstalling the printer drivers on the server the problem still existed. i noticed a printer name on her list of printers that looked like a old printer. It was connected to a server that no longer exists on our network and this was causing the issue. After deleting the printer all is working fine. I should have picked that up earlier
